On 4 May 2023 Local Elections will be held across England and Northern Ireland. South Heighton Parish Council consists of 7 Councillors who are elected for a 4 year term. Becoming a Councillor gives you the opportunity to have a say in how the Parish Council spends its precept and to give a voice to the residents of South Heighton and Norton. South Heighton Parish Council welcomes nominations from all members of the community, in fact this is vital to ensure that we remain an inclusive Council that represents the whole community. There is currently a national call on local councils to particularly encourage representation from younger members of the community who are currently very underrepresented.
To stand as a Councillor, you need to attend one evening meeting a month and spend as much time as you are able to give reading Council correspondence or contributing to projects. Each candidate needs to be at least 18 years old and, for the past 12 months:
· Have been registered as an elector in South Heighton / Norton OR
· Have their main place of work in South Heighton / Norton OR
· Live in South Heighton / Norton or within 4.8km

Electoral Registration Deadline: Monday, 17 April 2023
Postal Vote Application Deadline: 5pm on Tuesday, 18 April 2023
Proxy Vote Application Deadline: 5pm on Tuesday, 25 April 2023
Election Day: Thursday, 4 May 2023.

Simply complete a nomination form by calling Lewes District Council on 01273 085193. This is also the number to call to arrange to submit your form once you have completed it.
